Poetic Muse

Words From Whittler

Abacus

Hello, and welcome to Poetic Muse's First Edition. There are many directions I'd like this to go... Many visions I'd like this to embrace. Yet, instinctively, I know better than to set any predesigned standards that will do little more than limit its growth to what I see. Rather, it should grow from an assortment of visions, for the ground it touches is as fertile as it is diverse.
Poetry for too long now has been in the hands of the "avant-garde," the few who hold degrees and or doctorates. Without their stamp of approval many fine poets and their poetry remain undiscovered and virtually unknown. The sad thing is that with the life and death of poetry at their disposal, they've done little to enhance and broaden its field. Book stores have little space for poetry in most areas around the country and most people have little interest to buy something that has been put outside of their understanding...so the art of poetry suffers as does its growth and appeal.
The object of this E'zine is to help in breaking that trend. To quit the stereotyping of poetry, to allow free-verse and rhyme equal appreciation as art in their own rights, as well as the many other forms and styles of this versatile art form. To bring it before the people unmarred by the "avant-garde," and unhindered by opinion and critique... Let the readers decide what moves them... What reaches them... And so is the purpose of this E'zine... You probably won't find these artists in the book store, but you will find them here. To be a source of inspiration, a "muse" if you will, to help other unknown artists find their own unique voice in the world...
